Purpose: To elevate the ministry of Jesus the Christ and encourage His people to live in readiness for His soon return.

Focus: The foundation of Sabbath School is the study of God’s Word.

Our Work

From its inception Sabbath School has focused on four emphases that are still prominent to this day: fellowship development, community outreach, Bible study, and foreign mission. A solid balance of these elements characterizes the most vital Sabbath Schools across our Union.

Sabbath School is the primary religious education system of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and has four main purposes; study of the Scriptures, fellowship, community outreach and World mission emphasis. In our Union, we  call it “the heart of the church.”  Sabbath School is for teaching and not preaching. In this segment of our Christian experience, we facilitate discovery, discussion, and application of the Sabbath School Lessons.

The Sabbath School Ministry exists to win, hold and train every member and visitor through the integration of faith, fellowship, witnessing, and global mission emphasis. The Sabbath School Department is primarily concerned with the training and equipping of Sabbath School Teachers, Leaders, and Superintendents to effectively teach and train in their local churches.

The department’s work and support include:

  • Providing training for all that fosters fellowship and sharing of experiences within the sabbath school experience.
  • Encourage a greater and deeper study of the Bible while developing an intimate relationship with Jesus.
